Jose Luis Zavala received his bachelor’s degree from California State University Los Angeles in Child Development & Early Childhood Education (1992). Jose was part of the 5-time CSULA Cross Country Championship team (1987-1992). He holds a Masters Degrees in Marriage and Family Therapy (MFT) from California Marriage and Family Studies Center (1995). Mr. Zavala has over 24 years experience directly working with community based non-profit agencies throughout Southern California who provide programming on social and environmental justice issues. He is the co-founder of Family Group Decision Making (FGDM) for Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services (2001). Currently, he supervises a project in Skid Row for homeless families where. He developed a “Crisis Conferencing” model to assist chronically homeless families in the skid row area. Mr. Zavala has presented throughout the country in the field of social work.
Jose Zavala is the President & CEO of Aztlan Athletics, LLC. He has extensive experience in grassroots event management and has founded 9 unique run/walk events that support nationally recognized non-profit agencies. Jose has developed a cost effective bundling event management model that is affordable to any non-profit agency. He is the founder of the Aztlan Athletics Foundation (AAF).
