I was introduced to sports at the age of 13. I played softball, basketball, and flag football
at Hollenbeck youth center. I attended high school in Southern California where I was introduced
to Cross Country, Track and Field. My love for these two sports took me to my senior year. A
few accomplishments from my high school career:

  • In Cross Country I was Northern League Champion of the Greek Theater course, and
City Champion at the famous Pierce College course breaking the course record at
prelims and again at finals, the record held for approximately 10 years.
  • In Track and Field I was League Champion in the 800, 1600, 3200 meters and anchor
leg for the 4×400 relay. At City Finals I finished 2nd in the 1600m at 5:10 and 3200m at
11:09. I advanced to the CA State Finals in the 1600m, held in Sacramento, and ran
    5:05.

All my individual success has allowed me to be scouted by several colleges across CA
with elite running programs before I decided to continue my education and running career at
Cal State Los Angeles. I ran for CSLA for four years. A little bit about my college career:

  • In Cross Country, during my freshman year, I secured a spot among the top 5 runners on
the women’s team, contributing significantly to our team’s achievement of a second-place
finish at the Division II Nationals. I maintained my position within the top 5 for the
    following 3 years.
  •  In Track and Field, I ran the 1500m and 3000m during my freshman and sophomore
year. I qualified for Nationals in the 1500m my freshman year. I also finished in the top 5
and scored points for the team, helping CSLA take 4th place at Nationals Div. II. My
junior and senior year I raced the 5000m and 10000m. I qualified for Nationals twice in
the 5000m finishing with a personal best of 17:15

I have 11 years of experience coaching youth. I coached Cross Country, Track and Field
at Alhambra High School for the Almont League – 10 years as head coach for Cross Country, 6
years as assistant distance coach and 4 years as head coach in Track and Field. I am currently
head coach and program manager for the Aztlan Athletic Running Club.

  • During my coaching time in the Almont League I have had the pleasure of coaching the
Girls Varsity Cross Country team to 3 championships as well as individual male and
female League Champions in both Cross Country and Track and Field. I have coached
athletes to qualify and participate at CIF Preliminaries.

My philosophy is that anyone, no matter the age or gender, has the ability to RUN and
develop the physical and mental strength that the sport requires. With consistency, commitment,
patience, and motivation you can become an athlete. I strongly believe in teaching about ethics,
respect, communication and trust first, before technique and performance. Staying true to my
philosophy I have had the opportunity to coaching many athletes the past 10 years and looking
forward to meeting many more with the Aztlan Running Club.
